Nice to find this in the mail this morning, the new Brownells #52 catalog. There seems to be significant expansion in many areas, and I can see some Ruger single action type parts made it from the “special” mailers to the permanent book. It’s also nice to see current catalogs from Graf, Sinclair and Midwest. I think they are reflective of a state of health for firearms enthusiasts. It seems there are many more companies and many more gun products on the market these days, from large organizations as well as from new entrants. If there were a way to collect real data, we’d probably find there are as many new Internet companies specializing in distribution and resale of firearms related products, as there are representing other popular. It’s good to see companies adapt, and a greater number of quality sites with very current e-commerce technology. The catalog organizations are bringing a lot of value. They save us from being tied down exclusively to local retailers with spotty inventory and high prices. There are substantial savings on freight, sales tax and through discount pricing associated with Internet and mail order shopping incentive. We also don’t have to be taken advantage of by the punitive local taxes some of these counties and cities are floating, mostly on the coat tails of the popular current pastime of gun owner bashing. Give a politician any excuse or opportunity for more taxes…. If you know of more, please let me know. I’d keep adding them to the links page and use the site to promote in any way that I can. |
